SSC and Open B winner Eric "Wingman" Wenger flew TeamSeaholm's new SSCAvenger and its bigger brother the Avenger. Eric uses OS engines and has excellently prepared equipment. He scored 3,600 points in six rounds of SSC and over 3,000 points in Open B. That is over 5 cuts in every round. Eric does not engage an opponent in the furball instead he waits till his target clears the furball and then goes after its streamer.

What about engines? What did people use? Most competitors flew OS or Magnums in SSC and OS, Norvel, and Irvine in Open B. A new trend is the number of Open B flyers using the Webra .25. Mike Willcox's Webra .25 is shown on the left. The next engine is George Cleveland's FORA .29, a de-stroked version of his FORA ,36 used in CL combat. The third and fourth engines are Mike Willcox's Nelson .15 and George Cleveland's FORA .15. These engines were used in Open B. I think Mike's airplane was the fastest Open B ship. With these four ounce motors both Mike and George were able to field planes weighing 2 lbs 4 ounces.

A KI61 of the Dirt Patch Squadron shown on the left. One of many nice planes they brought to the contest. Michael "Mad Dawg" Sugamele's very nice Sureflite P40. This was the first time I had seen the kit close up and it looked very good both on the ground and in the air.

Joe "Thojo" Thompson took this photo op to show off his legs while wearing shorts. Joe, it was cold and windy I don't how you could stand it.
